The City of Santa Ana's Economic Development Newsletter, published in August 2026, highlighted an upcoming Dutch Bros Coffee location alongside various municipal programs aimed at fostering local business growth and community engagement. The newsletter outlined both new commercial activity and ongoing initiatives supporting the city’s economic landscape.

A new Dutch Bros Coffee franchise is expected to open its doors at 1819 N. Tustin Ave. in Santa Ana during the fourth quarter of 2026. This location marks an expansion of the Oregon-based coffee chain’s presence in Orange County, becoming its fifth outlet within the county. The company, known for its range of coffee and energy drinks, is currently engaged in hiring efforts for the new Santa Ana operation. The forthcoming establishment is anticipated to diversify dining and beverage options available to residents and visitors in the area.

Beyond individual commercial expansions, the City of Santa Ana actively supports local enterprises through established programs. The Small Business Incentive Program, for example, provides assistance to eligible new businesses. This program is designed to help offset qualified start-up costs and offers technical assistance throughout a business's initial three years of operation. Funding for this initiative is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.

The Sanctuary Studio, a cultural space situated in Downtown Santa Ana, serves as a recent example of a business benefiting from this incentive program. Dedicated to the arts and humanities, the studio offers private music mentorship, workshops, intimate concerts, and recording sessions. As a recipient of the City of Santa Ana’s Small Business Incentive Program, The Sanctuary Studio was able to secure investment for its first year of operations, facilitate programming expansion, and enhance its presence within the local arts community.

To guide future economic development strategies, the City of Santa Ana has also launched a community survey. This brief survey aims to gather resident preferences regarding the types of businesses desired within the city. The feedback collected from this initiative will inform decisions related to attracting new businesses, enhancing commercial corridors, and prioritizing investments that align with community needs and interests. The objective is to ensure that future development and business attraction efforts reflect the desires of the Santa Ana community.

Further demonstrating its commitment to local businesses, the City highlighted its role in connecting enterprises with crucial support resources. Following a hazmat incident in Garden Grove, the City of Santa Ana facilitated access to disaster loan assistance for affected businesses. SBA representatives met directly with local businesses at the Salgado Recreation Center, located at 706 N. Newhope St. in Santa Ana, to provide information on eligibility and application procedures for federal aid. This session, which occurred in the week prior to the August 2026 newsletter publication, underscored the availability of resources for businesses impacted by unforeseen events.

Through a combination of attracting new establishments like Dutch Bros Coffee, implementing direct support programs such as the Small Business Incentive Program, actively soliciting community input for future planning, and facilitating access to emergency assistance, the City of Santa Ana continues to pursue a comprehensive strategy for economic development and business community support. These efforts, as detailed in the August 2026 Economic Development Newsletter, aim to foster a resilient and growing commercial environment within the city.
